Utah’s One Thing: Alison Einerson Market Director Downtown Alliance

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

We were so excited to sit down for episode 102 with Downtown Farmers Market Director, Alison Einerson! Of course Alison said the first thing you should do is go to a Saturday Farmers Market! Whether you are visiting in the summer and get to go to Pioneer Park, or if you are visiting in the winter season, you can head to the Rio Grande. Alison also said if you are down south, you must eat at Hell’s Back Bone Grill. Known as one of the best restaurants in Utah, who just happens to also be committed to supporting local, it is located in Boulder, Utah. It is open seasonally so make sure you check out the website before heading there!

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Episode 91 we had two awesome guests join us. Owners, AJ and Steve, of The Chocolate Conspiracy sat down with us to talk about pure, unadulterated chocolate. AJ told us that he is a fan or architecture and that his one thing he would tell people visiting Utah before they leave would be to go and see the Salt Lake City Mormon Temple because of the architecture. AJ said to learn the history of where it came from because the granite came from the Cottonwood Canyons here in Utah. He said go see the canyon and then go see the temple to see where it came from.

Of course you should stop by The Chocolate Conspiracy and pick up some chocolate too!

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Utah is a big place and sometimes we like to go outside the Wasatch Front and find amazing people. Episode 67 brought us Trent Hunsaker all the way from northern Utah, aka: Logan. He is the founder of Death Ray Media, host of the Smodcast, host of Show us your Wits, host of Death Ray wrestling podcast and A Part of Him Podcast Network. Trent said the one thing he would tell someone visiting Utah that they had to do before leaving would be to talk to some Mormon Missionaries. Yep, there you have it folks, we never thought we would hear that. However, Trent says that it gives an abrupt and shocking perspective of the culture.

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Episode 64 was full of girl power with activist and attorney, Kate Kelly. The first thing Kate said is that Utah always lures her back no matter where she goes. The one thing that Kate Kelly said someone visiting Utah should do before leaving is to go skiing! She suggested Deer Valley Resort.

Eric Schramm @ Deer Valley Resort

Kate also said that if you are visiting Utah you should also stop by Gilgal Gardens, which we did a feature on, and eat at All Chay which is a local Utah vegan/vegetarian eatery. There is a great write up on All Chay on: Amanda Eats SLC and on SLUG magazines food reviews!

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Previously we were joined by Jen of Mountain West Cider in episode 18 but this time, for episode 63, we were able to ask Jeff the other owner of Mountain West Cider what his one thing someone visiting Utah should do! Jeff said to check out the craft brewing scene in Utah. He also said go to church. As in go to the Tabernacle at Temple Square and check out the flowers in the spring or the lights in the winter. Jeff said that Salt Lake City is to the Mormon church like Rome is to the Vatican. We think he has a point. We also love putting brewing and the LDS church SLC temple grounds in the same entry!

Utah’s One Thing: Chris Provost Dad Joke Teller and Salt Lake Comic Con MC

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Episode 60 we had the honor of hosting the host of all hosts, Salt Lake Comic Con and dad joke teller, Chris Provost! Chris had a couple of things in mind when we asked him what the one thing he would tell people visiting Utah would be. First he said you have to try fry sauce. Fry sauce is a Utah staple! Sometimes it is just ketchup and mayo mixed together. Sometimes there might be a little pickle juice or spice added to it. Chris also said do donuts in the winter in an empty parking lot, and in the summer time go down “I Street” in the Avenues as fast as you can. He promises you will get some air. His final thing that someone must do while visiting Utah would be, is to visit Zion. He said seeing it for the first time will make you lose your breath.
