Utah’s One Thing: Shannon Barnson, Educator and Geek Show Podcast Host

Standard

Since we started our show in 2016, we have been asking our guests at the end of every New Utah interview, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

We had the opportunity to be joined for episode 162 by educator and fellow podcaster, Shannon Barnson. Shannon told us that he’s not a camper so the one thing he would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving would be go on a tour… A tour? What kind of tour Shannon? Well, he said that people think Utah is prudish so go on a brewery/distillery tour of course! Kiito’s is Shannon’s favorite right now. He also said to check out one of his favorite restaurants like Takashi or drive to Tremonton and eat at Maddox Ranch House!

Episode 126 we had the honor of sitting down with Derek Kitchen, Senator for District 2. Derek had a great list of things that he would tell someone visiting Utah that they must do before leaving! Derek’s first item would be to visit Utah’s cultural arts. He said to visit the Granary Row district mural program. Derek said you have to visit Utah’s Brewery’s (the link is just a handful of breweries that exist in Utah) and partake in some of Utah’s own cocktails. Also, head over to Temple Square and visit Space Jesus… aka the Christus statue of Jesus in the visitor center. But we most definitely prefer Space Jesus.

Utah’s One Thing: Trent Hunsaker founder of Death Ray Media

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Utah is a big place and sometimes we like to go outside the Wasatch Front and find amazing people. Episode 67 brought us Trent Hunsaker all the way from northern Utah, aka: Logan. He is the founder of Death Ray Media, host of the Smodcast, host of Show us your Wits, host of Death Ray wrestling podcast and A Part of Him Podcast Network. Trent said the one thing he would tell someone visiting Utah that they had to do before leaving would be to talk to some Mormon Missionaries. Yep, there you have it folks, we never thought we would hear that. However, Trent says that it gives an abrupt and shocking perspective of the culture.
