Utah’s One Thing: Cami and Kimm Andersen, Asylum 49 owners

Standard

Since we started our show in 2016, we have been asking our guests at the end of every New Utah interview, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Of course in episode 121 Cami and Kimm Andersen , of Asylum 49, said that the one thing someone visiting Utah should do is visit their old hospital! Asylum 49 is open year round. You can visit the brand new community center on one side of the building which features VR and escape games. You can visit in the fall for the haunted hospital, or you are part of group, or you schedule your own, paranormal tour. There is plenty to enjoy and learn about at the Old Tooele Hospital!

Standard

Since we started our show in 2016, we have been asking our guests at the end of every New Utah interview, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Episode 126 we had the honor of sitting down with Derek Kitchen, Senator for District 2. Derek had a great list of things that he would tell someone visiting Utah that they must do before leaving! Derek’s first item would be to visit Utah’s cultural arts. He said to visit the Granary Row district mural program. Derek said you have to visit Utah’s Brewery’s (the link is just a handful of breweries that exist in Utah) and partake in some of Utah’s own cocktails. Also, head over to Temple Square and visit Space Jesus… aka the Christus statue of Jesus in the visitor center. But we most definitely prefer Space Jesus.

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Joining us on Skype for episode 99,  Joanne Williams of Talisman Brewing Co. told us that the one thing you must do when visiting Utah is to head to Ogden and try some Talisman beer  at their brewery! We definitely agree with that, as most of their offerings are ONLY at their brewery!

Joanne said it really depends on what part of the state you are visiting. She said that they had a goal for 52 hikes in 52 weeks! This is definitely possible. She said to visit Kanaraville Falls and then visit Cecret Lake, it shows you two sides of Utah!

Utah’s One Thing: Pilot Barry Hancock

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Flight academy owner and aerobatic WWII warbird plane pilot, Barry Hancock, joined us for episode 98. Of course Barry said the one thing that you should do in Utah is head to his hangar in Heber and go to on war bird flight up in Heber with the Utah War Bird Adventures! He says the Wasatch front is incredible from the air! (Jessica fully agrees with this!)

Barry was full of all kinds of new and great suggestions! He said the state is so diverse and wonderful it’s hard to pick just one. He said the parks in the southern end of the state are unbelievable. Locally he said hit up the Timpanogos cave and the ice castles in Midway if you’re in town in the winter and it’s cold enough and to ride the Heber Creeper train.

Utah’s One Thing: AJ Wentworth of The Chocolate Conspiracy

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Episode 91 we had two awesome guests join us. Owners, AJ and Steve, of The Chocolate Conspiracy sat down with us to talk about pure, unadulterated chocolate. AJ told us that he is a fan or architecture and that his one thing he would tell people visiting Utah before they leave would be to go and see the Salt Lake City Mormon Temple because of the architecture. AJ said to learn the history of where it came from because the granite came from the Cottonwood Canyons here in Utah. He said go see the canyon and then go see the temple to see where it came from.

Of course you should stop by The Chocolate Conspiracy and pick up some chocolate too!
