Utah’s One Thing: Front Row Film Roast/CrowdSourced Comedy

Standard

Since we started our show in 2016, we have been asking our guests at the end of every New Utah interview, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Episode 154 we had the cast of the Front Row Film Roast/ CrowdSourced Comedy join us for a roaring good time! We asked Jessica, Andrew, Trevor, and Craig what the one thing the would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving! Here are there answers.

Andrew said that there is so much here but because others have mentioned national parks, etc. Andrew said to go to the Avenues! There is no rhyme or reason behind the style of homes and also in the Avenues is the Salt Lake Cemetery. It’s on a hill you can see all the city and the history connected to Utah.

Craig said, yes it sounds cliché for him to say, but if you are in Utah in the month of June go to Utah’s pride festival! SLC is unique because it has one of the most dense LGBTQ+ populations because a lot of people flock to the state because it is a place to belong.

Jessica said it depends on what you enjoy but her one thing to do in Utah, is to go to Cedar City and take in the Shakespeare Festival! It goes from June to October!

Trevor said his one thing is to go to the restaurant Five Alls, but our Jessica squashed his hopes and dreams by telling him it had recently closed. He then said, go to F***n Arches!

Since we started our show in 2016, we have been asking our guests at the end of every New Utah interview, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

It took some time, but we were so excited to be joined for episode 150 by the (now former) editor of City Weekly, Enrique Limon. Enrique told us that the one thing you should do when visiting Utah is to allow yourself to be taken by the city. He said there is so much to do; nightlife, art spaces, pop up’s. Enrique said that one thing he remembers before he took the job at City Weekly, he was in town for a conference and he remembered waiting for the Trax and looking at the skyline and the mountains and thinking, I am a Utahn. He thought to himself, “something cool is happening here. Utah is on the brink of something,” and he just wanted to come back. Be like Enrique and go with the flow!!

Enrique also said, “don’t take what you think about the state as gospel.”

Episode 146 was our second sit down with Salt Lake District Attorney, Sim Gill. Previously he told us in episode 126 that his one thing someone should do while visiting Utah was, visit Utah’s beautiful mountain trails. Sim wanted to see if he said the same thing, and sure enough his heart is in the mountains. Sim said he always goes back to his mountains. Always back to hiking and the natural resources that Utah has. Sim says, “the world comes to Utah to look at our mountains and to ski our mountains, and the natural resources that we have.” He is amazed that Utahn’s don’t take advantage as much as we should. He said we live in a bowl with bad air quality and to be able to walk into the mountains and free your mind, you see that people are just so happy when you’re on a trail. Oh, and Sim said go look at SLC architecture and go float in the Great Salt Lake!
