Utah’s One Thing: Cat Umano, Dancer and Podcaster

Standard

Since we started our show in 2016, we have been asking our guests at the end of every New Utah interview, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Episode 129 We were joined by Cat Umano dancer and host of SLC Sitdown Podcast. Cat said that as a transplant to Utah there is still a lot that she hasn’t done, but she would tell someone visiting Utah to experience nature and the mountains. We hope she gets to go back to Zion and experience Angel’s Landing after telling us about missing her opportunity because of rain! **Also on a side note, if you are looking for dance lessons, Cat will be back in Utah this summer! You can get in touch with her through her Facebook or Twitter page!**

Episode 129 We Are Getting Woke with the Women of SLC Sitdown Podcast

Standard

We are still missing some election results cause Utah County can’t get their s*** together. More to come later.

Podcasts gotta stick together, right?

We were joined this week by Cat Umano and Kiki Furia, who when they are not teaching, dancing, cosplaying and gaming, are the voices behind The Sit Down SLC Podcast. They are fairly new to the Salt Lake City podcast scene and we welcome them with open arms. You may have seen Cat or/and Kiki on the Black Panther panel at SLC FanX this past fall, but if you didn’t, that is what sparked the idea to continue the conversation and put it into a podcast.

Cat Umano is new to Utah by just a couple-ish years. She grew up mostly on the east coast and then her dancing feet took her around the country and landed her in Utah at BYU for their ballroom program. Cat teaches dance and she is getting ready to embark on a dance tour this spring!

Kiki, also not a local, moved from California and has been cos-playing, gaming, and at her day job she is improving after school programs in Utah, one school at a time. She is always working on building her streaming gaming presence and is working on her next cosplay!

Kiki and Cat have been sitting down weekly for the last 24 weeks to talk about issues such as race, consent, being politically correct, and don’t worry, it isn’t ALL serious. They do mix in some fun! We got to talk to Cat and Kiki about how they got started, how they keep their topics focused, and why in the white state of Utah it was important to start and keep these conversations going.

On a most important side note, Cat’s dance shoes *which we might add are not cheap* were stolen out of her vehicle! If you are interested in donating to her to replace them, please message us through our contact page or through one of our social media platforms or you can contact her directly through the SLC Sitdown Facebook page.

You can listen to them on your streaming services, or directly on Spreaker by clicking HERE Follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook! We look forward to listening to more of what these strong women have to say to keep this state woke!
