Episode 136 New Laws. New Utah.

Standard

Welcome to 2019!! We made it!

Thanks for all who tuned in this past year and have supported us along the way. 2018 was awesome and we cannot wait for this year and what it brings for us and for Utah! We love doing the New Utah Podcast for you!

We started the year by talking about the repercussions that the government shut down has on Utah. If you’ve been living under a rock, the government has been shut down now since December 22nd. If you have listened to our show, you know that our guests LOVE the national parks in Utah. Zions has been running on volunteers and others barely eeking by and Bryce is still opened as well. Other things effected by the shut down in Utah include but aren’t limited to; funding to the tribes throughout Utah, road maintenance, WIC, 200+ forest service employees, and the parks being closed trickles down to local businesses that depend on that tourism.

It is also of note, the new laws that take effect for 2019. Of course we all know about the new drinking and driving law. There are other laws that are new for Utah as well and we covered just a few of them for you.

Also, in case you were wondering, we were wrong. The visitor center at the Kennecott Copper Mine is set to reopen spring of 2019 after the major landslide. However, keep up with Rio Tinto’s social media and with VisitUtah.Org for updates because the last news was the mine was still shifting and they were concerned about the opening date.
