Now back to Candice….

Candice is a native Utahn, born in Salt Lake City raised, in the Clearfield, Ogden, area. Canidce is a mother, partner and fierce feminist who found her love for making art in the form of quasi vintage underclothing about 9 years ago. After only a short time of being in business Candice went viral with her ‘Golden Girls’ panties. Sales went through the roof…UNTIL Betty white filed a cease and desist order ultimately breaking up the group (You can still purchase the other 3 golden girls on her website) Each one was designed with the particular character in mind.

The Dorothy design is black a nod to her characters dark side.

The Blanche who is Candice’s favorite golden girl, sums up Candice’s view “Life’s short, get fucked”.  You will notice the Blanche is crotchless, in true Blanche style.

Candice has had several unfortunate and unforeseen challenges thrown her way the past few years; her sister passed way followed by her mother. Covid threw a wrench in the business with home schooling, and all the garbage that came along with the Covid shutdowns, quarantines, etc. Candice is a one woman show who puts family first and the support of her kids and husband at the front of everything she does.

Candice is however on a new path to bring Bullets and Bees back into the mainstream and she has begun creating new items again. Each item Candice produces is hand made, and made to fit the person ordering them. Custom orders are available as well as some of the standards she has in stock. Here are a few of our favorites.

This was such a fun interview; Candice is a joy to talk to and you can feel the passion she has in her work. Once again check out her work, place an order, or just say hello… Bullets and Bees Boutique

Episode 315 – Messing with the System

Standard

This episode we take the show on the road! We are recording in the Red Rock Brewery with Michael Druce. We get to check out the operations, the beer store and talk all about the beer and story behind Red Rock.

Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune

We start off talking about Michael’s history, and find out, much like Jeremy, he’s an Idaho boy to start. The two of them wax poetic about the old days in Pocatello, before we push them to get on with the beer history portion of the show. It turns out that Michael has loved Red Rock since it began back in 1989, as the LLC was introduced to American business. He has been drinking their beers since the first week of the pub being open.

We take a trip through tastings of various beers. We start with their hands down most popular, Elephino. A nice IPA that they can’t seem to make enough of to be honest. We get a taste of their Pride Beer, Double White Rainbow, and my favorite, their Anniversary Imperial Red. We also get to taste their Marvela, which happens to be their #2 selling beer. Jeremy and I are in love, and highly recommend it to all.

But we also get to talk about some other stuff they have done in the community. Aside from winning an insane number of awards and being a big part in legislative changes, it turns out they do special projects. For example, Harmons has engaged in it’s own line of beer, and none other than Red Rock is collaborating with them on it. We got to sample the 24/7 365 American Lager, and it’s the perfect lawn mowing beer if there ever was one!

Harmons

Red Rock has been around since the start, only Squatters is technically older. And they continue to be a big part of the community and local brewing scene. You can’t ask for a better community steward than them.

Episode 295 – Floppy Fries

Standard

Hello all you fabulous listeners!!!

We are recording on Skype this week because Julia is negative for COVID but then positive twice but then negative again.  She’s feeling better but home recovering and avoiding giving it to us since we’ll never be sure if she has/had COVID!

The Utah State Legislature began on the 18th.  We talk about how important it is to know what is happening up on the hill and to contact your legislator if you something is important to you.  Please go to www.le.utah.gov  for bill tracking, to find out who your representatives are and to listen to committee discussions.

We know you’ve been waiting for it, so here it is, the first part of our City Weekly Best Of review!  In this weeks episode, we go over the Food & Drink and the Restaurants categories.  We are shocked that The Pie didn’t win for Best Pizza or even Best Pizza in Ogden but excited that Fresh Donuts & Deli is on the board for Best Donuts.  Our wonderful friends at Ruby Snap beat Crumbl for Best Cookies and of course, Pretty Bird, FTW under Best Chicken Sandwich.  Chef Adalberto pulls out a couple secondary positions under Best Bakery and Best Dessert for Fillings and Emulsions but we know he should be #1!  Guras Spice House is overlooked for Best Indian Restaurant again but now that Jeremy has been to La Caille, we know it’s a real place to go and eat.  Surprisingly, between the podcast crew, we’ve been to all the winners in Best French Restaurant.  Chris is thrilled with Sunday’s Best, Best Restaurant Brunch win but we’re not going to Takashi until their dining room opens, no matter how many categories they win.

Don’t worry, we didn’t miss pulling a Tarot Card this week and it tells us to listen to our little voices . . .
