Episode 315 – Messing with the System

Standard

This episode we take the show on the road! We are recording in the Red Rock Brewery with Michael Druce. We get to check out the operations, the beer store and talk all about the beer and story behind Red Rock.

Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune

We start off talking about Michael’s history, and find out, much like Jeremy, he’s an Idaho boy to start. The two of them wax poetic about the old days in Pocatello, before we push them to get on with the beer history portion of the show. It turns out that Michael has loved Red Rock since it began back in 1989, as the LLC was introduced to American business. He has been drinking their beers since the first week of the pub being open.

We take a trip through tastings of various beers. We start with their hands down most popular, Elephino. A nice IPA that they can’t seem to make enough of to be honest. We get a taste of their Pride Beer, Double White Rainbow, and my favorite, their Anniversary Imperial Red. We also get to taste their Marvela, which happens to be their #2 selling beer. Jeremy and I are in love, and highly recommend it to all.

But we also get to talk about some other stuff they have done in the community. Aside from winning an insane number of awards and being a big part in legislative changes, it turns out they do special projects. For example, Harmons has engaged in it’s own line of beer, and none other than Red Rock is collaborating with them on it. We got to sample the 24/7 365 American Lager, and it’s the perfect lawn mowing beer if there ever was one!

Harmons

Red Rock has been around since the start, only Squatters is technically older. And they continue to be a big part of the community and local brewing scene. You can’t ask for a better community steward than them.
