Episode 177 Boogers and Halloween Candy

Standard

We have been joined by guest co-host, Josh Cameron, a couple times before for episode 79 and 124. This time we wanted him to sit down with us to host and to tell us about his new book, Gaiming Higher, and his plans to run for UCD1 for Rob Bishop’s seat.

Do you know what Utah’s most purchased Halloween candy is? We broke down each of our favorites on this weeks episode. Salt Lake Tribune reported that CandyStore.com (after compiling years of data) reported that Utah’s favorite candy is Jolly Ranchers with Tootsie Pops in a close second. Industrial supply outlet Bid-on-Equipment.com (based on Google search per capita) reported that Utahn’s most popular candy is Peanut Butter M&M’s. What is your favorite Halloween candy?

We had storyteller Danny B Stewart on to talk about the Provo Vortex and some Utah Lore for episode 123. This week we found an awesome article from KSL that talks about other myths and lore’s that we haven’t covered before! But nothing will ever beat out Utah Lake water babies… *shiver*

Episode 123 The Provo Vortex

Standard

We all agree here at The New Utah Podcast that storytelling is a dying art. Our guest for episode 123, Danny B Stewart, is a master of this art and we were excited to hear about how he found his passion for lore, legends, and mythology!

The Utah’s Original Provo Utah Ghost Tours isn’t a scary, paranormal tour through Provo. What it IS, is based off of personal research that Danny has done since he was a child, and the desire to not have to prove something. Danny has been a teacher at UVU, a lecturer, and is currently an author with Utah Stories. You can find some of his research put into writing at Utah Stories, including faeries, Bigfoot and the Utah Lake monster lore! Danny has had an interest in research and the Provo area since he was a child growing up in Vineyard. Danny doesn’t believe in Google searching and has done all the foot work on his own, from personal accounts from people contacting him to interviewing locals. Danny jots down everything in a notebook to compile the stories.

Provo Faeries? And what is this Provo vortex he speaks of? It is an area by Columbia Lane and Grandview Elementary that when walking through, some how time is extended. Danny tells us stories of walking through that area, if you are interested you can book a tour with him and do the time warp again… Sorry, we had to. He is also working on a documentary about this area. We hope to see it soon!

Danny also doesn’t want to be mistaken for that other Provo Ghost tour! Tune in to this weeks episode for more, because we don’t want to give it all away!

You can find Danny on Facebook and Instagram and get signed up for a tour!
