The creativity of Utah knows no bounds. This rings true through our conversation on episode 138 with Sheri and Jen of Clever Octopus.

What is a clever octopus you say? Well, Clever Octopus is Utah’s very own non-profit, creative re-use center located in Murray on 4973 S State Street. Their purpose and goal is zero waste and they’ve chosen creating art to do just that! It is the first of its kind in Utah that is partnering with local industrial businesses and people in the community to take materials that would otherwise stay hidden in closets for decades or be sent to landfills and teach people about art! In addition to classes, they have their very own store that you can buy the re-usable supplies that are donated for your own projects! *think ottomans and puppets*

Offering classes throughout the year, they have everything from book making *yes like the binding and everything,* needle felting, whiskey barrel ring wall hangings *think huge dream catchers but way cooler,* and more! They travel to senior centers, schools, and libraries to offer hands on creativity. They truly are thinking outside the box when it comes to the supplies they are re-using.

They have a long term plan of expanding to a much larger space that would offer local artist’s studio space, classroom space, a store, a coffee shop, and more! If you would like to offer cash donations or volunteer your time *they are not taking supply donations at the moment due to space* please contact them on their website HERE. Their goal is to be in a new space the fall of 2019! Please follow them on their Facebook page for events and on Instagram.
