Episode 147 It’s much too Cold with Dave Cawley

Standard

We are fortunate to get to talk to other Utah podcasters. It gives a great perspective of what each of us are experiencing as we broadcast to the great unknown! And after all, we are all in this together, right?

Episode 147 we had the honor to sit down and talk with host, Dave Cawley, of the podcast sensation Cold.

We didn’t want to bring Dave in to rehash his episodes of Cold. After 18 episodes and three grueling years of research, we wanted to talk to Dave about why he decided to invest the time to share Susan’s story. We wanted to know what it was like being a radio personality moving into podcasting without knowing how people are really going to react. We also wanted to know about moving from behind the scenes as a reporter to being thrust into a spotlight. Truly, we just wanted to sit down and talk with him out of much respect for what he has been doing the last three years as an investigative journalist in the Utah community. One of the many things we loved about talking to Dave is that he made it very clear he is open to having thoughtful and respectful debate about the case. Even though his theories are changing and have changed since the research started, it goes without saying that Dave’s life has been changed by doing this podcast.

The Cold Podcast has become a place of activism against domestic abuse for both Dave and for his listeners. Dave has made the pledge above to make sure that those in Susan’s shoes can take them off and run, and Dave has offered these steps in acknowledging abuse in friends and family members. First believe. Listen to what they are saying and believe them. Second, validate and third direct them to the proper resources such as the Utah Domestic Violence Coalition or the National Domestic hotline (links below)
