You know you want to know why we’ve titled this “Poutine is the Canadian Betos in Utah!”

We were SO hungry after our guest Jen, from Poutine Your Mouth, left us on Tuesday! The New Utah loves having unique food guests through our doors and poutine is definitely unique to the United States. Fries, Gravy (vegan at that), and local cheese curds (courtesy Heber Valley Cheese) make up an original bowl of Poutine. However, PYM has gone above and beyond to create their own menu. It’s LDS conference weekend so avoid downtown Salt Lake if you can. It is also the third annual Utah Gay and Lesbian Wedding Expo by QSaltLake.  Did you know in Utah is one of 29 states where it is LEGAL to discriminate as a business owner against the LGBT community? The Tulip festival at Thanksgiving point starts next week on the 7th (a week early because our weather has been so sporadic)  Did you know Utah has their own winning Women’s Football League team? Utah’s One Thing: Holly Gates-Rohde Paranormal Illumination Society

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

We didn’t get her answer on her episode, but our regular guest host and co-founder of the Paranormal Illumination Society, Holly Gates-Rohde of episode 22 (and others) said that the one thing she thinks someone should do before leaving Utah is: a visitor would need to go up any of the canyons in the fall to see the amazing colors. My favorite is Spanish Fork canyon. Or to head up to Kamas in the fall and go to Hi Mountain Drug Store. They have the best burgers and you get to see the amazing fall foliage.

Ep. 22 Paranormal Pod Friends

The New Utah Podcast is still catching up on interviews from our awesome time at the Utah Halloween Expo! This week’s episode includes the talented author, Tracey Rolfe of Essex! Yes, we got to interview an author all the way from England! Tracey writes historical  young adult fantasy books. We also got to spend some QT with Susan Slaughter of Ghost Hunters International Fame and now The Dark Zone and Lydia from M&L Paranormal Investigators, a local organization.

We figured it was Halloween time, and what better way to celebrate than have our very own Jeremy and his stellar sister Holly Gates-Rohde talk about THEIR paranormal organization; The Paranormal Illumination Society. They even brought some EVP’s to share!

Jeremy and Holly have been investigating the paranormal for about 15 years because of personal experiences growing up. Take a listen and don’t be scared!
