Utah’s One Thing: Nick Passey

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Local Utah solo artist and guitarist for Folk Hogan, Nick Passey, visited our studio for episode 37. Nick suggested that the one thing that people visiting Utah should do is get into the sub-culture and find like minded people. Visit clubs, find the music scene, and drink Utah Alcohol.

Utah’s One Thing: Oskar and Julia

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Episode 21, Oskar and Julia’s said their one thing that they would tell people they must do when visiting Utah is: go on a hike!! Julia knows it’s generic, but her reasoning is perfect! She explains that being in LA people always wanted to go on “hikes” and all they were going on were just hills. Oskar and Julia mention the beautiful Ensign Peak.

That’s “Mou-un”, we think that is phonetically how you pronounce “mountain” in Utah?

Utah’s One Thing: Hraefn Wulfson

Standard

At the end of every New Utah interview we like to ask our guests, “What is the one thing that you would tell someone visiting Utah they had to do before leaving?”

Hraefn Wulfson in episode 20 suggested that the one thing to do in Utah when visiting is to look at what makes the historical foundations of Utah, but look at it from an archaeological perspective. The things that are here, that are part of the founding culture, are very interesting from an anthropology point of view. The temple is a unique piece of architecture and when you think of how it is made it gives a different perspective on Utah. And what better way to know about it’s history, than to go to Temple Square.

Also, stop at the Salt Flats!

In episode 16, Ryan and Jason of the Utah Halloween Expo and Show said the one thing a visitor should do in Utah before leaving is…

Ryan said, pull on salt water taffy. Yep, he said that. But really. Salt Lake City is known for our Salt Water Taffy, so Ryan wasn’t WAY off. Whether you like Taffy Town or Sweets, you can’t go wrong with a bag of salt water taffy.

Jason said, do the polar bear plunge in the middle of January. (he thinks it’s illegal, but it really does exist!!!) There are actually several chilly plunge’s around the state and even some for a good cause!!
